ROBOTIC ICE BLASTING TECHNOLOGY
For a sustainable future in shipping logistics
Enhance the profitability and reduce environmental impact with Mainz Cleaning System
ROBOTIC ICE BLASTING
FASTER CLEANING – FASTER TURNAROUND OF VESSELS
Using MCS, the traditional manual cleaning process that requires substantial amounts of chemicals and water is replaced by ice blasting technology that operates at minus 79° Celsius. This innovation requires only 20 minutes to clean a container and reduces drying time from over 24h to zero, which considerably improving the utilisation of the same number of containers.
DRY ICE – MORE EFFICIENT CLEANING
Cleaning with the Mainz Cleaning System (MCS) eliminates spores, e.coli and salmonella. The ice blasting technology exposes the bacteria to temperatures of -79° C, which results in the bacteria dying.
AUTOMATION – IMPROVED WORK ENVIRONMENT
An automated solution reduces the risk of workers being exposed to hazardous gases and uncomfortable shifts. Several studies have confirmed that prolonged exposure to enclosed containers significantly deteriorates health.

The MCS Solution
By deploying the MCS in a container, shipping logistic companies will be able to replace a normal manual cleaning process involving tons of chemicals and water with a one-step ice blasting procedure.
The MCS is permanently installed in a home-container placed in the port area.
Apart from limiting the environmental impact, the MCS cleaning process is faster, less labor intensive and provides a significantly more effective cleaning, thus providing shipping companies a value proposition of more laden days, higher container capacity and lower cost. Depending on operational pattern, shipping companies can expect a return on investment in less than a year.
Equipped with a dry ice production unit, CO2 storage and a fully autonom robot, the MCS ensures an efficient and thorough cleaning.
Container Cleaning made easy
- Reduces drying time by 99% by using dry ice cleaning process
- Reduces chemical usage with 100% as well as water usage when cleaning containers
- Reduces the number of staff members involved in cleaning operations to 0.5 per system
- Eliminates the need for external cleaning labor
- Eliminates the need for other cleaning equipment
- Leads to significant savings and has a payback time of less than a year depending on the operational pattern
- Improves working environment by reducing the amount of dangerous manual labour needed
